(1)前漢の司馬遷(Shima Qian)が著した中国最初の紀伝体の正史。
伝説上の黄帝から前漢の武帝まで二千数百年間の史書で、本紀12巻・年表10巻・書８巻・世家(ｾｲｶ)30巻・列伝70巻の130巻から成る。BC.  91<征和 2>成立。
本紀は歴代王朝の帝王の事績の記録、表は年表、書は文物制度史、世家は呉太伯から漢に至までに興亡した有力諸侯の国別による年代記、列伝は官吏・学者・経済家・庶民などで後世に名を残すにたる個人の伝記。
在来の伝説や記録のほか広く旅行を試みて史料を収集し、選択整理して本紀と列伝をもつ紀伝体と称せられる記述形式にまとめたもの。
紀伝体はこの後、官撰正史の基本形式となった。また、客観的・総合的な歴史叙述は後世史書の模範となった。

営州(Yingzhou)(今の遼寧省)出身のトルコ(突厥)系の胡人で、同郷の安禄山(An Lushan)(ｱﾝ･ﾛｸｻﾞﾝ)の親友。
６ヶ国語を使い貿易官となり、のち軍人となる。
 755年禄山が挙兵すると河北を攻略し、禄山の死後、唐に帰順して河北節度使となる。
 758年唐に対して反乱を起こし洛陽(Luoyang)を陥れ、 759年安禄山の子の慶緒(Qingxu)を殺して大聖燕王(Dasheng Huan-wang)と称したが、やがて子の史朝義(Shi Chaoyi)に殺された。の亂)
